JUJU BOOKS was founded in Glasgow in 2017 by illustrator, bookbinder and all round stationery enthusiast Gillian Stewart.
After gaining a Design Degree from Glasgow School of Art, enough travelling to fill a brain with a lifetimes inspiration and time spent working in a commercial bookbinders, JUJU was formed to create all the things Gillian wants to exist in the world.
From our bright studio in Glasgow's East End, we make thoughtful books that invite and encourage creativity.
Beautiful limited run items that explore traditional techniques with contemporary design, made with ethical materials.
Letter pressed and foil blocked stationery that makes you want to reach out and share with someone.
Bookbinding is a craft that involves several process, learned, practised and refined over time. We start by selecting the paper for our books (which involves much fondling and testing of paper) and then fold and gather the pages.
We then sew our books using methods that have been used for centuries to make a book that's durable and opens flat, allowing for ideas to fill the whole page.
Using carefully sourced paper and cloth, we design covers for the outside of the books. These are then hand finished with complimentary foil blocking and nestled around the book, before being pressed in our hard working cast iron book press.
We'll soon be offering letter press and hot foil services, using traditional presses to deliver fresh shiny inky papery goodness!
